Since the commencement of 2015 Ian West has been the Deputy Principal at West Wallsend High. During this time his areas of strategic management have included curriculum and assessment, teacher professional learning, community relations, aboriginal education, special education and issues surrounding the principles social equity in a school environment.
​Prior to his appointment at WWHS Ian worked for BOSTES as a liaison officer, at the University of Newcastle as a lecturer and in the TAFE sector. Ian was the chair of the examination committee for Software Design and Development HSC examinations and co-wrote the current iteration of the SDD syllabus. Ian has been a member of syllabus committees in a number of other technology subjects.
Ian has a passion for making a difference in education through pushing the boundaries of what is considered possible. ​
